About a year ago, we moved to just outside of Florence, Kentucky. My wife's new iPhone posts to facebook say she is "posting from Sugartit". Even though my parents lived near Florence for nearly 20 years, I'd never heard of Sugartit, Kentucky. Everyone on facebook keeps asking her where is Sugartit?
A little research turned up the answer. Apparently Sugartit was once a community at the corner of Pleasant Valley (Hwy 237) and Dixie Highway (US42). It unfortunately no longer exists. The last remnants were the "Sugartit Asphalt" plant, which has since been removed/renamed.

FYI...Now there is a sports pub named...you guessed it, "Sugartit"...it opens this week...see "Tony Jones" on fb for more info and pictures...he has lived in Boone County all of his life and had never heard it either, so given the pub is on that same corner...he had to do it! I was trying to get some info that he can hang on his wall...a little history behind it...So we have Sugartit, Beaver Lick and Big Bone...what kind of people lived here long ago!!!
I live in Union (for the last 11 years) and wondered about this too - thanks for posting the info. Not sure where the sports pub is that "sassyOx" mentioned.. I haven't seen that?
I moved in four years ago and was quickly introduced to the distinct community of sugartit. With the babbling gunpowder creek, numerous ice cream parlors and can do attitude it's a great community. The never ending pleasant valley/ 42 construction and beautiful strip malls add to sugartit's booming economy. I live living there and the community is coming back from the duldrums of history!
Thats is the problem there. When i was a child we get off the interstate at 42 go about a block south and there was nothing. All you see now are big homes and way to many people. And that's sad. No matter where you go. What you do. You will All ways see someone right there.
